Darren “D.C.” Cross

Darren “D.C.” Cross—previously of Gerling and Jep and Dep, and most recently collaborating with Andrew Tuttle live and on their debut album, AT/DC (slated for an October 2026 release via Room40 / Something Good)—is psyched to announce a rare performance of fully improvised guitar music.

His latest 9th solo D.C. Cross album - Open Guitar (Volume 2), features over three hours of improvised acoustic guitar recorded directly in natural environments: mountain tops, beneath flight paths, swamps, lakes, and rivers. Cross uses open tunings and fingerpicking on the acoustic guitar—sometimes tuned to 432 Hz, sometimes not. The album is over 3hours long.

Influenced by Americans like John Fahey, Elizabeth Cotten, Marisa Anderson and early Daniel Bachman, alongside British pickers like Bert Jansch, Nick Drake, and Davy Graham, Cross creates his own uniquely Australian take on the genre, inspired by artists like Dirty Three, Ed Kuepper and The Necks.

Please join Cross and Jetsets for a rare, special night of open-tuned, improvised guitar.

Bree van Reyk

Bree van Reyk is a drummer, percussionist, composer, sound artist and occasional maker of unkempt musical instruments. Her solo performances centre on exploring minimal, experimental, and meditative experiential soundscapes using rustic, self-invented instruments and found objects.

Recent commissions include new works for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Dark MOFO, Sydney Chamber Opera, Monafoma, Darren Hanlon and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Bree has forged a unique career collaborating with artists such as Gurrumul, Paul Kelly, Sarah Blasko, and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Her solo album, ‘superclusters’, is a massed instrumental ensemble work featuring over 20 guest musicians including Jim White and Mick Turner (Dirty Three), and Véronique Serret (Will Barton, Joanna Newsom).

Bree lives and works on the un-ceded lands of the Gadigal and Wangal and holds an Associate Lecturer role at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
