Listening Guide
Exciting young American composer and pianist Miles Walter presents a brimming, energy-packed recital spotlighting some composers dear to him, including his own teacher, the eminent Sir George Benjamin. Walter opens the door to a selection of contemporary and classic music that has informed his own compositions, one of which was recently described as “one of the most refreshing piano compositions one has heard in recent times…. Don’t forget this name”.
The evening features the Australian premiere of Sir George Benjamin’s new work for four hands, Divisions—a major and exhilarating addition to the piano four-hands repertoire, alongside a world premiere of Walter’s own four-hand work, “impromptu FOR herr schubert.”
