Singing Stones
For our fourth chapter we invite our first interstate guest - Zoltan Fecso from Naarm, Melbourne.
His work explores the many perceptual possibilities of listening, often using prepared instruments, field recordings and electronic sound sources with a regard for improvisation, extended duration and fine detail. Zoltan Fecso’s music has been released by labels in Australia, Europe and USA. His debut Shimmer Raga on Hush Hush Recordings was a ‘highly tactile and mesmerising’ (Stationary Travels) study of minimalism.
In 2021, his 29 minute prepared piano piece Butterfly Hands for Longform Editions was described by Boomkat as ‘flush with cascading, iridescent beauty.’ On his 2023 album Other Air via Sydney’s own Oxtail Recordings, his striking use of texture emphasises the physicality of sound and embodied relationships to place. An album that’s “utterly intoxicating” (Foxy Digitalis).
In March this year, Zoltan collaborated with vibraphonist Anna Morley on a collection of atmospheric duets for vibraphone and synthesiser. The album, Desire Path, his 2nd release on Oxtail Recordings, presents as a timeless classic. It highlights the two musicians’ acute sense of melody, described as “music that declutters you and makes you feel whole.” (Cyclic Defrost)
We are thrilled to welcome Zoltan Fecso back to Gadigal Country for an extended three-hour live performance.
This is an 18+ Show.
