kankan (Maira Shimada) is a solo performance project using radio, bamboo flute, and other methods. Fishing around in an exponential pond of noise.

Hill Hall Egami

This performance brings together three musicians — Gabriella Hill on soprano saxophone, Henry Hall on double bass, and Mari Egami on piano — who come together to explore the possibilities and unexpected sounds of their instruments.

Each musician brings a different approach to their instrument: Henry explores the extended and prepared sounds of the double bass, Mari delves into the textures of the prepared piano, and Gabriella explores the possibilities of her newly acquired soprano saxophone.

Through their original compositions and free improvisation, the trio creates a constantly evolving soundscape, exploring the spaces between composition, improvisation, and experimentation. Come along and experience their work in progress as it unfolds in the moment.
