Fundraiser Concert for Gaza Artist Fund
Join us for an afternoon of stunning music from Pavle Cajic, Keyna Wilkins, and Honora Ryan, performing alongside talented local students, raising money for a special artist currently in Gaza. 🎶
Amidst the bombing and starvation and via online communications, one artist in Gaza, Alaa Zaqout, befriended local musician Pavle Cajic. After 3 years of friendship, Pavle is organising this fundraiser to help her. 100% of the funds raised from this concert will go towards Alaa Zaqout, who has her first ever opportunity to evacuate Gaza to safety and pursue her dreams. Alaa dearly wishes to complete her Masters studies in Design and return to Gaza to help rebuild her beloved city as an interior designer. But she can only do this with our support. This is a a unique opportunity to support Gazan artist not only reach safety but pursue her dreams. We will also be displaying and selling beautiful prints from Alaa to further support her and spread her beautiful talent.
The concert will feature unique original compositions and popular classical from local composers and musicians, who are comitted to anti-imperialism, global human rights and justice. Pavle Cajic is a pianist and composer of a classical background who has ventured into jazz and enjoys exploring music of different cultures through collaboration and improvisation as a way to learn about the many beautiful music-making practices throughout the world. Keyna Wilkins is a pioneering Australian/British composer-musician. She was one of three finalists for the Australian Art Music Awards for Individual Excellence in 2021 and 2018 (APRA/AMCOS). Her works are published by Wirripang and are performed internationally. Honora Ryan is a classical pianist and singer. They will be joined by several fantastic local student musicians.
