29th June 2026 - Michael Avgenicos’ Eudaemons // Hayley Chan EP LAUNCH
Michael Avgenicos’ Eudaemons
Michael Avgenicos - saxophones
Peter Koopman - guitar
Max Alduca - double bass
Tim Geldens - drums
Sydney/Newcastle based saxophonist Michael Avgenicos brings together a new group of long standing collaborators Peter Koopman, Max Alduca and Tim Geldens to perform a set of original compositions from his upcoming record, “EUDAEMONS,” which translates to “good demons” or “good spirits.”
This concert will feature material loosely inspired by Greek myths and philosophies, dealing with themes of heroism, tragedy, and paradox. Some pieces are composed as a palette for textural, meditative improvisation, whilst others are melodic, structured and energetic. Expect to hear a thrilling expression of spirit, driven by Michael’s deep, emotive and fluid style.
Hayley Chan EP LAUNCH
Hayley Chan - drums & percussion
Hayley Chan is a performer, improviser, and composer based in Warrane/Sydney. With a background in jazz, hip-hop, improvised, experimental, and industrial music, Hayley brings a distinctive post-genre sound to her performances. In June 2024, Hayley premiered her drumset concerto Creatures/Inhabitants at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music featuring Uma Volkmer on trumpet and Gabriella Hill on tenor saxophone. Inspired by the art of Louise Bourgeois, Creatures/Inhabitants is a 25-minute semi-improvised piece that intricately explores depictions of landscapes and animals, and the inner workings of the human mind. Expanding on these ideas, Hayley is now set to release her debut solo EP Desert Meditations in June 2026.
