Philip Dizack (USA)

Philip Dizack is widely regarded as one of the leading jazz trumpeters of his generation. Dizack refined his craft as a sideman under the tutelage of Jazz Messenger Bobby Watson and eight-time Grammy winner Eddie Palmieri, before establishing himself as a sought-after collaborator and educator across the international jazz landscape. He has released three albums as a leader and appeared as a sideman on over thirty-five. His contribution to pianist Shai Maestro’s ECM recording Human (2021) was met with critical acclaim across more than a dozen countries, and he featured as a soloist on saxophonist Remy Le Boeuf’s Assembly of Shadows, which received two Grammy nominations.

A visiting scholar in residence at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for the week, Dizack also currently holds the position of Associate Professor at the University of North Texas.

Nick Garbett - trumpet
Cameron Deyell - guitar
Ben Vanderwal - drums

Nick Garbett (The Strides, The Vampires) and Cameron Deyell (Sia, Missy Higggins, Lior, Laurence Pike) team up with Perth drummer Ben Vanderwal to play some new music, and in the process create some new worlds for us all to momentary dwell in. Expansive, cinematic backdrops will unfold for a deep musical exchange.

This performance will be a unique collaboration featuring the interesting line up of Trumpet, Guitar and Drum set. All three members have distinct voices on their instruments and have admired each other’s music from a far for a long time.
