Essential Tremors, curated by Angus Andrew [Liars], is an exploratory music and art series that celebrates the boundless nature of sound. Originating in 2022 at Phoenix Central Park with an all-Australian lineup, ET has since expanded globally to cities including Beijing, NYC, Tokyo, Akron, and Canberra.

“This year’s Essential Tremors series brings together creators at the forefront of sonic innovation and boundary-pushing ingenuity. They are united in their fearless exploration of sound and bring a unique perspective and mastery to their craft. From electronic experimentation to ethnomusicological journeys, each performer embodies ET’s commitment to showcasing diverse voices and pushing the limits of auditory experience.  In the intimate setting of the Nest at Phoenix Central Park, the audience will be invited to delve into the raw energy and transformative power of live performance, celebrating artists who redefine genres and challenge conventions with every note.

I feel like there is magic and a danger in live performance which remains unique to this world. It’s an experience as yet un-synthesised. ET supports artists taking risks in this medium. It’s an emotional and financial investment unparalleled.”
