Large Ensemble Workshop and Performance (with Clayton Thomas)
Dear improvisers,
I’m very excited to have the chance to talk, explore, listen and get into one of my favourite subjects; large group improvising, in Canberra next month. SoundOut has invited me to do a workshop on ‘how lots of people improvise a the same time’ and they asked me to lead a group performance. I’ve decided to put these two things together. I’ll be inviting people to take part, but if you want to participate in the workshop, and ‘play’ with some amazing improvisers, for Saturday night’s closing set, sign up.
The subjects I’ll be digging into will be broadly separated into: Utopian versus Functional music. Ritual versus Process. How to talk about sound. And what does control mean within the technical aspects of a ‘free music’ performance.
If that sounds like fun, sign up in the link at: events.humanitix.com/soundout-workshops
