Announcing…the first ever Jetsets gig!!

As a nod to the old Bohemian Grove and a continuation of a bit of a nice tradition we’ve the inimitable Showa 44, plus young trio of talent, Sandcastles.

Showa 44

Simon Barker: Drums Carl Dewhurst: Guitar Showa 44 utilize tuned metallic resonances, rhythmic densities and spontaneous invention via electric guitar and percussion to manifest compelling and evocative soundscapes. Since their inception in 2001, Showa 44 have released five albums: Showa 44, Ormus, Orneon, Kaihogyo and Event Two. They have played at major music festivals both in Australia and abroad have had their music feature in two major films.

Sandcastles

Hinano Fujisaki (tenor saxophone), Harley Coleman (guitar), and Chloe Kim (drums) are three bright young voices in Sydney’s jazz scene. After meeting as fellow students in the jazz course at the Sydney Conservatorium, the band was formed through friendship and a mutual desire to pursue their own sound. Displaying maturity beyond their years, Sandcastles’ approach cuts to the core of the jazz spirit: group improvisation, led by well-crafted melodies, channelled with inventiveness and clarity through each instrumental voice.
