A subset of the minds that brought you ‘interesting music’ night Frigid have joined forces with some more interesting people and GOOD SPACE to create a nine week run of Thursday evenings of interesting live electronic music featuring live acts, deejays and veejays from 6pm til midnight for only $8 at the door.

Expect modular synthesisers with masses of blinking lights and tangled patch cables, performers playing obscure objects like panes of glass or hurdygurdies, drums played without sticks, eye bending visuals, DNA being turned into music, drones, dubs, noise, sub-bass, cut up vocals and beats alike. Improvisation, collaboration, sonic exploration.

Genres being blurred, bent and re-invented before your ears.

Del Lumanta is an artist/musician based in Sydney. They have been experimenting with modular synthesis for just over a year and will perform some improvised bleep bloops.

======== DJ Kanka aka gutter Boy trash

Starting out DJing in 1997 at underground teckno parties like Happy Valley, Jungle Punks, Swarm parties, Gatecrasher Bondi Beach and G.A.S night club, DJ Kanka went on to play at good bar’s Warm Up with Abel el Toro as well as Liquid Labyrinth parties.

For Vitalise, DJ Kanka (GBT) going experimental, deep and live for a first time performance. Expect Tribal Ambient sound scapes made largely with ‘pocket operator’ synths.

======== e:m:p

Mark Pedersen’s solo project - e:m:p - constructs evolving textures and rhythms, weaving field recordings and tape loops together with improvised modular synthesis and immersive visuals.

Drawing upon time spent travelling through Australia, India, Africa and the Middle East, e:m:p performances invite the audience into a meditative and deeply layered sound world that is equal parts concrete and abstract.

======== Grumblemorph

Grumblemorph is the solo live electronic music wing of Peter Strong.

The live project was active in the mid to late 90’s as a solo project existing along side other jamming, social and activist collectives Peter was involved like Non Bossy Posse, Vibe Tribe, Ohms Not Bombs, Organarchy Sound System and Reclaim The Streets.

The music backbone of Grumblemorph is live analogue grooves peppered with digitally captured sampling.

Grumblemorph in 2021 is now in its second incarnation after a 25-year hiatus, the latest project is a remix project of the UK anarcho punk band Crass working towards a release later this year endorsed by members Crass and the label that represents their discography ‘One Little Independent Records’.

Their seminal ‘Feeding the 5000’ album is given the Grumblemorph remix treatment in techno and drum and bass styles. More details here on how you can support the project that’s a fundraiser for the Addison Road Community Centre.

Sofie Loizou (Anomie) is an Australian classically trained musician, composer, producer and media artist.

Traversing performance, installation and public art, as well as a diverse discographic output as a composer and producer, Sofie’s key interest lies in artistically exploring the convergent realms of the modern classical composer, the sound designer, the DJ, and the electronic music producer using a variety of methodologies to investigate how these realms overlap artistically, using them to extend the vocabulary of music and sound.

Chris Mountford is a Sydney-based DJ and producer with a strong connection to the experimental music, Burning Seed and queer party communities.

Having hosted several of Sydney’s most loved warehouse parties of recent years including Orchid Funstorm, he’s also summoned dancefloor enthusiasm at the occasional festival and club night.

With a performative approach to DJing, his selections strike a sophisticated balance of rhythms from the Middle East, South America and naturally, Africa, with a sonority that blends traditional instrumentation with the purely synthetic.

Our resident VJ is ATMM (Automatic Teller Machine Machine)

’the buttons we push are not very clean’

ATMM provides organic and architectural visuals spanning from the analogue to the digital, adding colour and movement to the sounds of Anomie, Borgore, various Clan Analogue acts, Datsik, MarkN, MonkFly, Ribongia and was the resident VJ for the notorious Channel parties.
