Wirecutters is an ensemble led by Oscar Neyland devoted to the music of Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy and Mal Waldron. The group plays their repertoire with our own methods and clearly defined internal concepts, paying homage to the music by being as adventurous and aggressively creative as the composers intended. The music is always uncompromising.

Wirecutters has played a number of shows in Melbourne, with this being their first ever Sydney show. In keeping with the spirit of the group’s fluid line-up, this set brings together Melbourne-based members Oscar Neyland (bass) and Shaun Rammers (tenor sax) with Sydney-based newcomers Miles Rooney (trumpet), Chloe Kim (drums), Nick Mielczarek (guitar) and Sam Gill (alto saxophone).
