Mind on Fire

10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Mind On Fire is a duo project featuring brothers Brad and Sam Gill. Their music draws on exploratory approaches to composition and improvisation, often blurring the line between the two in their compelling and dynamic performances. Their music centres around their core duo as well as a rotating pool of guest musicians.

Their performance at Johnston Street Jazz will feature a new set of music performed for the first time! In addition to their duet music, most of the set will feature their first appearance with new collaborators Felix Bornholdt, Jacques Emery and Chloe Kim.

In late 2017, Mind on Fire released their debut self-produced album ‘The Process of Unbecoming’, featuring three pieces each by Brad and Sam centred around their core duo and also featuring a number of additional guest performers including Holly Conner, Daniel Herscovitch, Novak Manojlovic and Mary Rapp. The album can be heard online at https://samgillmusic.bandcamp.com/album/the-process-of-unbecoming
